Shibari is Glitch Art.                                     

The utilization of twisted fibers as rope has gone back in time through many cultures, histories, and people’s for a wide variety of uses. In the context of using rope to bind people, the history has not always been of that for fun, eroticism and art. Rope bondage has a long history of repression, colonialism, torture, carceral punishment and other inhumane uses. In utilizing this to subvert it’s original use for fun, eroticism, and art, it is intentionally misusing this system, as glitch art.
